Albemarle County Cellular Core Panel Structures
Aluminum & Stainless Steel Cellular Panels
Our periodic cellular materials are comprised of a metal core joined to two face sheets. We utilize a wide variety of materials (including stainless steel, aluminum, and more) and designs to form our proprietary panel structures collectively referred to as MicroTruss™. Our metal cellular core panels provide strength and robustness not found in conventional honeycomb panels.
From our production facility in Charlottesville, we're able to provide Albemarle County and the entire Mid-Atlantic region with cellular core panel structures to fit any need. Call us today at 434-296-7989 to learn more!
Cellular Core Panels Available:
TCLA - Extruded Aluminum Panels

CMI's patented TCLA sandwich panels are available in sizes up to 24" wide and up to 12' long. They are 1.75" thick, weigh 14 pounds per square foot, and are made from 6000 series Aluminum. The TCLA is ideal for a large number of structural uses.
Corrugated Core Panels - Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Titanium & More

Corrugated Core Panels offer the same stiffness as a solid plate of the same thickness at as little as ten percent of the total weight. Due to the simplicity of design and ease of manufacture the Corrugated Core Panels are one of our most popular products. We can design and manufacture Corrugated Core Panels to your specs.
We offer them in thicknesses ranging from a few millimeters to over 2' and either flat or with a curvature. Depending on your application requirements, they can be welded, brazed, or glued and can be ordered in quantities ranging from one square foot up to 100 square feet.

Pyramidal Core Panels - Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Titanium & More

Our lightest design, The Pyramidal Core offers the same stiffness as a solid plate of the same thickness at less than ten percent of the weight. They can be designed to meet your requirements in thicknesses from less than 1" to as much as 4" thick and in sizes ranging from less than a square foot to over 100 square feet. Panels can be built flat or with a curvature. Depending on application requirements, they can be welded, brazed, or glued. This is an expensive design to manufacture and should be considered when lightness and strength, and not cost, are the primary considerations.
Ribbon Panels - Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Galvanized, Titanium & More

If your are looking for a cost-effective option with a significant strength to weight ratio, our Ribbon Panel will meet your needs. These panels have an incredible design flexibility and can be made to meet a broad range of specifications. They can be designed to be extremely light in thicknesses from 1/2" to as much 4" thick. Panel sizes can range from less than a square foot to over 40 square feet. The Ribbon Panels are constructed using the same glue systems that are used to manufacture cars and trucks. Panels can be built flat or with a curvature. Typically, this panel is not as strong as a welded panel but can be up to eight times stiffer than a monolithic panel of the same weight and material.
Super Plastic Formed Panel - Titanium

If you are looking for very light design and cost is not an issue, this is it.
Titanium Super Plastic Formed Panels have incredible flexibility and can be made to your specifications. We can make them for you from a 1/2" to over 2" thick. Panel sizes can range from less than a square foot to over 10 square feet. They are laser welded prior to pressure forming. Typically, this panel is as strong as a welded panel and can be up to ten times stiffer than a monolithic panel of the same weight. They are ideal for 3D curved application. Tooling is the largest expense in producing these panels .
